XRPL Zone / Token 2049
For the XRPL event in Singapore, I developed a flexible animation toolkit to bring flowing digital visuals to registration, lounges, the keynote stage, and the co-working space.
I animated individual design elements, building expression rigs and refining the motion into seamless 20-second loops. This approach made it easy to customize scenes across three color palettes, giving each space its own character while keeping the event visually cohesive.

Line Animations
Layered lines created a moiré effect, adding fluid motion and visual tension against the binary grid. I built a flexible stroke rig that allowed lines to be added or removed without disrupting the animation’s timing.
The GIFs below show five-second highlights from the midpoint of the full 20-second loops, compressed to meet the site’s 20MB limit.
Random Block Movement
Animating hundreds of squares by hand would have been brutal, so expressions were used to drive the movement. Each 60 × 60 pixel block travels either horizontally or vertically, pauses, then changes to a new random direction. The system loops seamlessly for the full length of the composition, creating a constantly shifting grid without manually keyframing every square.
Download the After Effects project to experiment with the controls and create your own randomized grid animation.
Difference Blocks
I reused the same expressions to animate these blocks, building another layer of texture from existing design elements. A Difference blend mode inverted the lines beneath them, creating shifting patterns as the blocks moved.
The first GIF shows the blocks in isolation; the second shows their interaction with the lines.
XRPL Logo
The XRPL logo became another textural element, breaking into vertical strips that aligned precisely with the grid. Its animation echoed the surrounding patterns, tying the branding into the composition.
Horizontal Gradient
Staggered gradient strips created a snaking motion, adding color and texture to the composition. Variations in timing, blur, and scale softened the pattern, creating a flexible element that could shift the mood and color temperature while looping seamlessly.
Geo Grid
The Geo Grid anchored the composition, providing a consistent structure for the flowing textures and animated elements.
